About us
Unique Experience –
With both International Oil Company (IOC) and National Oil Company (NOC) work experience domestically in the US and in many non-US locations, Guy Dayvault the principal consultant has worked as a regular full-time employee at Chevron, Enron, Marathon and Gazprom. Having represented both the (IOC) view in foreign business as well as the (NOC) perspective in the LNG business both in the US and elsewhere, Guy brings a unique confluence of perspectives to his aptitude in structuring deals that manage risks satisfactorily for counterparties with differing views. Essentially, his career progression has been from engineer to business development, starting with seven years of production and reservoir engineering, followed by three years of commercial sales and marketing, which led to eight years of financial modeling and commercial analysis, followed by eleven years of commercial structuring and negotiations before starting Energy Deal Solutions LLC in 2010 to provide commercial advisory services.
For many years Energy Deal Solutions LLC has represented and advised clients on natural gas and LNG deals, representing both LNG sellers and LNG buyers with respect to both (1) existing LNG export facilities such as Qatargas and Bontang (Indonesia) and (2) proposed new LNG export facilities such as Alaska LNG, Jordan Cove LNG, Lake Charles LNG, and Texas LNG. Our commercial advisory services included designing LNG sales campaigns, initial and follow-up sales calls with over fifty prospective LNG buyers, drafting both definitive agreements such as LNG Sale and Purchase Agreements (SPAs) and preliminary nonbinding commercial agreements (including Letters of Intent (LOI), Memorandums of Understanding (MOU), Heads of Agreement (HOA), and Heads of Terms (HOT)). We successfully participated in negotiating and signing dozens of LOIs, MOUs, HOAs, HOTs, and SPAs.
From time to time we also served as an owner’s commercial representative during construction of major natural gas infrastructure such as a several hundred mile long 48”-diameter high pressure natural gas pipeline. And provided expert commercial reviews for lenders and equity-investors with respect to lending or investing into new construction LNG facilities.
Additionally we represented various parties as an expert witness in LNG and natural gas related disputes that remain confidential.
In recent years we have also advised climate change motivated clients in Direct Air Capture (DAC) of carbon dioxide (CO2) with respect to various commercial and early stage development agreements supporting winning proposals to the US Department of Energy (DOE) for funding of DAC hubs known as Prairie Compass DAC Hub, Project Cypress DAC Hub, and California Direct Air Capture Hub. >>>

Pertinent education
Commercial experience the past thirty years preceded by a technical education of Mechanical (BSME) & Petroleum Engineering (Masters) degrees followed later by the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) certification.
The CFA certification is essentially the quantitative side of a top quality MBA requiring three sequential annual levels of international examination offered only once each year. Guy passed each level of the CFA certification testing process at first attempt.
Having worked at several excellent multinational owner-operator international energy companies he has had opportunity for many continuing education short courses in areas ranging from sales to negotiations to commercial skills and leadership.
